<p>Doctors and physicians advise older people to opt for senior fitness programs. These programs are specifically designed to cater to the needs of aging individuals. Exercise has become mandatory for senior people who are suffering from diseases such as osteoporosis or arthritis. These fitness programs offer exercises that are safe for senior citizens to follow.</p>
<p>The main aim of these programs is to improve cardiovascular fitness. They also help to improve strength and flexibility of different muscles and tendons. These programs also help individuals fight chronic diseases. In short, they ensure the overall well being of the individual. Fitness programs are designed after taking into consideration risk factors, doctor&#8217;s recommendations and personal interests. Most fitness clubs require a fitness certificate from doctors for senior members.</p>
<p>The program works first from the consultation level where individuals are suggested a program after taking into consideration the medical history of the person. Health risk assessment is also done at this level. The next step is evaluation. Blood pressure, flexibility and strength are monitored during this stage. Individual capacities are assessed and guidelines for the program are set. At the instructional level, the individual is passed through a progressive exercise program that slowly increases in intensity. The sessions include warm-up exercises, followed by aerobic conditioning. The individuals would also be trained in strength training and stabilizing exercises. If a person does not enjoy the exercising, personal fitness programs can be designed.</p>
<p>Research has proved that senior fitness programs have helped people considerably by ensuring an active life during old age. It helps in dealing with chronic ailments such as arthritis that otherwise impair normal activities. It improves stamina and immunity to various diseases. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In this day and age most of us who want to get fitter, stronger, or lose weight know that in order to achieve our goals we must participate in some type of exercise program. One of the problems is that of choosing what sort of fitness equipment we should be using or buying. There are a number of choices on the market today, including elliptical trainers, rowing machines, exercise bicycles, steppers, weight machines, free weights, cable machines, and so on.</p>
<p>Now you have two choices when it comes to using fitness equipment. First is to purchase a piece of equipment, depending on the quality of what you want, buying can be pretty expensive. The second choice is to become a gym member. This will give you a wider of choice in the types of fitness equipment you can use, but even this option can be expensive.</p>
<p>Now there can be many reasons that could make it difficult for you to take advantage of either choice. Perhaps you are in a position in your life at the moment where you cannot afford to purchase any fitness equipment or afford to join a gym. You may not have any space at home to use any fitness equipment, or have the time to travel to a gym 3 or 4 times a week. You may feel uncomfortable or not have the confidence at the present time to join a gym. All these reasons will result in one thing, and that is not exercising, and not achieving the vision you may have of yourself for the future.</p>
<p>Now I am going to be brutally honest with you. All those reasons are just excuses not to exercise. You justify not exercising with these excuses and this makes you feel that there is some substance behind why you cannot exercise. The fact is that there is no substance behind these excuses, because when you focus on why you can&#8217;t do something your mind will come up with lots of reasons for that point of focus. However if you focus on a regular basis on why you should exercise, your mind will come up with reasons and ways for that as well. You can reach extreme levels of fitness without equipment.</p>
<p>The truth is that we associate great bodies with fitness equipment and we have the perception that fitness without any equipment is not something that can be achieved successfully. This is a million miles away from the truth. You don&#8217;t need any fitness equipment to become fitter, stronger, or slimmer. Your own body is one of the best pieces of fitness equipment that you have. You can reach extremely high levels of fitness using nothing but your body.</p>
<p>Take a look at the sport of boxing. It is only over the last few years that boxers have started using weights or weight machines to train. A few years ago 99% of their training consisted of using their own body for their training. Boxers would get up in the early hours and run the streets, not use a treadmill at lunch time. They would spend many hours a week doing push ups, sit ups, chin ups, stretching, shadow boxing, and a whole host of other body weight exercises. Boxers are warriors and they reach warrior status without any equipment. Boxers have the fittest and most durable physiques in sport.</p>
<p>To become a soldier is no mean feat, the training is extremely tough. The bulk of a soldiers training consists of exercising without equipment. They spend hours running over rough terrain carrying equipment and heavy backpacks. They spend months doing circuit training consisting of swimming, push ups, chin ups, sit ups, and various other exercises. Nobody can say that a soldier is not an extremely fit individual.</p>
<p>There is a huge choice of exercises you can use, where your body is the only piece of equipment you will need. Depending on the method of training you use, just 15 minutes a day will give you fitness levels far beyond what you have at the moment. Pick a set of exercises that hit different body parts and make a circuit out of them. Circuit training will improve your strength, fitness, and endurance. Pick your own circuit or use the one below</p>
<p>Free squats (30 seconds) Rest (20 seconds) Push ups (30 seconds) Rest (20seconds) Crunches (30 seconds) Rest (20 seconds) Squat thrusts (30 seconds)</p>
<p>This circuit last just 3 minutes and it will work your body hard. Do as many actions of each exercise in a 30 second period and do not have any more than 20 seconds rest. Try it once and see how you feel. Call this one circuit, and when your fitness improves do another circuit later in the day. There really is no limit to how far you can go on this circuit, the fitter you get the more circuits you keep adding. Just try one to begin with to get used to it and think on that one circuit is just 3 minutes out of your whole day. 3 minutes is not a lot compared to the benefits you will get from that time. Now you know that you are capable of reaching a high level of fitness without equipment.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Women&#8217;s fitness is very important, but most women just don&#8217;t feel like they have the time to commit to it. They also feel guilty if they spend their time on something for themselves instead of for their family. This is especially true of working women with children. They often feel like their children have been without them enough hours on any given day. Women&#8217;s fitness doesn&#8217;t have to mean you don&#8217;t have time for your family. In fact, it is a great way to spend time with your family. Everyone will benefit from the time together as well as getting fit.</p>
<p>Walking is a great exercise for women&#8217;s fitness. It is very simple to walk with small children too. Simply get a stroller designed for walking or running. Pulling your children in a wagon is easy too. Ask another mom with children to join you. This will motivate you to keep moving and give you someone to visit with during your walks. 30 minutes of exercise each day is essential for women&#8217;s fitness. I am sorry to break it to you, but carrying groceries and chasing after children doesn&#8217;t count!</p>
<p>Yoga and aerobics are popular methods for women&#8217;s fitness. You can purchase tapes to do them at home on your own schedule. If you choose to do this, make sure you have plenty of open space to move around. Make sure you schedule time to exercise as well or it won&#8217;t get done. Ask your spouse to help you fit this in by giving the children a bath or reading them a story while you workout. Most gyms offer yoga and aerobics for women&#8217;s fitness as well. Call to find out how to join, the hours, and what classes are offered. It is important to find activities you enjoy or you won&#8217;t stick with them.</p>
<p>Weight lifting can be a part of women&#8217;s fitness too. Many women shy away from it because they are afraid of bulking up or looking manly. This isn&#8217;t likely to happen because of the different hormones men and women have. Weight lifting is a great part of women&#8217;s fitness because you will build lean muscle. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn while exercising and relaxing. You will also become more toned. Lifting small amounts of weight with several reps is the most effective method.</p>
<p>Women&#8217;s fitness becomes more important as you get older. It can help you look younger and have a more appealing body. We tend to gain weight as we get older because our metabolism slows down. Your bones can become more brittle and you can develop serious health issues. Women&#8217;s fitness can reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes. It can also help regulate your period and reduce the effects of PMS, both mentally and physically. Some women find staying fit helps them get through menopause easier as well. If you only take time to do one thing for yourself this is it, women&#8217;s fitness will benefit you now and in the future.</p>

I don&#8217;t need statistics to know that, I can just look around at any grocery store or shopping mall and see people who are overweight. Sometimes it seems the overweight outnumber the in shape.</p>
<p>Finding a exercise fitness program isn&#8217;t as easy as you might think. First, everyone has busy lives. We have school, jobs, spouses, family, children and their activities. We have work responsibilities, lawns that need mowing and children who have to get to the dentist. Finding the time to JOIN a gym, never mind actually work out at one can be difficult and require a level of commitment that some are either unwilling or unable to make.</p>
<p>But our lives really do depend on us being fit. While being in shape certainly doesn&#8217;t guarantee good health, it has been shown to be beneficial in many areas. And being in shape certainly comes in handy when the escalator is broken at the mall! Or the elevator up to your 6th floor apartment isn&#8217;t working again. So finding an exercise fitness program that works for you is important for everyone.</p>
<p>There is also the matter of self esteem. I know that when I lose those pesky 5 pounds that I seem to love to gain and lose, I feel much better about myself. When I can fit into my &#8220;skinny&#8221; jeans, I really do have a &#8220;skip&#8221; in my step. Looking good and feeling good are certainly related. Does that mean that all overweight people are miserable? Of course not. It does mean that when you are fit and healthy you feel good about yourself and your life.</p>
<p>SO, what is the answer for the person who would like to get into shape but can&#8217;t seem to find the time? First, if getting into shape is important to you, you can and will find the time. I run in the morning before my husband goes to work. That means I forgo sleeping in most mornings, but I gain the feeling of having already accomplished something by 730am. Being fit is important to me. For some, joining a gym is the answer. Some need the group atmosphere of a gym to keep motivated. There truly is an exercise fitness program for everyone.</p>
<p>Others are looking for a exercise fitness program they can do at home.. Perhaps they have small children and the gym in their area doesn&#8217;t provide child care or is too expensive. <p>We all have stress, but some people are better at dealing with it than others. It is important to control your response to stress because it is a known risk factor for weight gain. A good way to help you de-stress is by using meditation, yoga and exercise.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many people have their own definition of fitness. The problem is that most people have subconsciously picked up their definition of physical fitness from the media. In my experience, any thought or belief brought on by the media isn&#8217;t the one you should believe.</p>
<p>The media tends to give us the wrong perceptions about almost everything. We subconsciously pick up on the subtle innuendos on fitness and they become lodged in our thought process. Things such as &#8220;if you don&#8217;t have 6 pack abs, you aren&#8217;t in shape&#8221;, &#8220;only those with huge muscles are physically fit&#8221;, or &#8220;big muscles are what make a person strong&#8221;.</p>
<p>Every person, whether they know it or not, holds a belief system dictating what they think a physically fit person should look like. Most of the time this belief excludes people with a little more fat than would be expected from someone with amazing levels of fitness. The majority of individuals think that the only people who are really strong and in shape are those with big, bulging muscles.</p>
<p>Although there are still some bodybuilders with a combination of big muscles, flexibility, and great endurance &#8211; it&#8217;s becoming a rare occurrence. Most people train for one specific goal, which is to get big muscles. They might be great in the gym, but what happens when they actually have to use their muscles in a real-life situation?</p>
<p>Physical fitness, in my mind, goes way beyond the boundaries of what happens when you&#8217;re working out. It involves how your body reacts to situations and how effectively it can work as a whole.</p>
<p><strong>My Definition Of Physical Fitness</strong></p>
<p>When I think of total physical fitness, looks don&#8217;t play a huge role in it. Sure, having a great body is a good sign that you&#8217;re in shape, but there are plenty of people who others would consider &#8220;fat&#8221; or &#8220;not big enough&#8221; who possess amazing abilities when it comes to fitness.</p>
<p>To me, the definition of physical fitness is having the total package. It&#8217;s the ability to be able to use your body in any given situation. It&#8217;s the ability to get out of a bad situation in which you need to use a combination of strength, endurance, and possibly flexibility in order to survive something. If you can run a marathon but can&#8217;t sprint 100 yards without passing out, what&#8217;s the point? I&#8217;d like to know when in your life you&#8217;re ever going to have to run a marathon for survival.</p>
<p>There are many different types of endurance and strength. For example, you have short and long-term endurance. You have explosive, reactive, maximal, and endurance strength. In my mind, to be physically fit means you have at least an average development in every single one of these areas.</p>
<p>Notice how this doesn&#8217;t require you to have your abs so defined that people&#8217;s jaws drop as you walk by? It isn&#8217;t imperative that you&#8217;re as &#8220;ripped&#8221; as possible &#8211; that&#8217;s just something that comes naturally as a result of this type of training your body.</p>
<p>I know of people who were &#8220;fat&#8221;, yet had the agility and strength to do a 1-handed handstand. There are boxers today that have a good amount of fat on them, but can fight through an entire boxing match. <br />This is the same for skinny people. People might look at me and think &#8220;he&#8217;s not that big; he&#8217;s probably not very strong&#8221;. I don&#8217;t have huge muscles because I don&#8217;t train or eat for big muscles. I train to have fun, and in doing this type of training I have gotten a lot stronger, more flexible, and I impress people with some of the things I can do. Friends at work are bewildered by some of the exercises I perform because I don&#8217;t &#8220;look&#8221; that strong. I could build more muscles if I wanted to, but right now it&#8217;s not a priority of mine. I&#8217;d rather gain the strength, and then work on building muscle.</p>
<p>The next time you&#8217;re in the gym and feel yourself judging somebody else based on their looks, take a time to realize that you may be wrong about them. Physical fitness is something you can&#8217;t perceive at first glance. Be willing to set your beliefs aside for a moment and try incorporating some new exercises into your current workout routine. Your body works as a whole, and you should train it as such. Try doing this and watch your current physical fitness levels soar.</p>
